Roadside Answers to a query on Responsive Website – Customer Support!

Published by: 2

As usual this year too Diwali was dhamakedhar. It was always like that at my in-law’s place, especially when you are the eldest son-in-law.

Now it is Monday morning and I am on my way to the office …. Sigh.

Everybody seems to be in a hurry like me. And then it happened! OMG! ….my car has a flat.

I curse involuntarily!

I am stuck with a flat tyre right in the middle of the road with a cacophony of honking horns! I am super irritated now, as I push my car to the road side and remove the spare tyre.

As I trying to jack the car, my phone rings.

I curse again, “Now who the hell is it?”

With the phone wedged between my shoulder and ear, I try to jack my car.

“Venky, why do I need a Responsive Website?” asks a client.

Trying hard to keep my cool, I leave the tools and park myself on the spare tyre. “Hi Sir, let me explain”, I say.

For the benefit of others, who may have a similar query, here the gist…

“The concept of designing a business website has undergone a radical change.

In a world where smart phone and internet users are increasing by the day, it makes little sense if your website does not show on different gadgets. Having a website designed with a Responsive Design is your only reprieve.

Let me quickly tell you what is a Responsive Website Design (RWD)?

Technically speaking, a Responsive Website Design means that this design can show up on any device – like your desktop, laptop, smartphones, tablets and even on your TV. The design recognizes any of these gadgets and adjusts to them.

Now to your questions; why do you need a Responsive Web Design?

  1. Mobile users have increased drastically and almost all providers are provided high speed internet connectivity. This has induced more searches and decisions to happen on a mobile phone or a tablet. If you don’t have a responsive website, you are not competitive and can kiss your online business, goodbye.

  1. Google adores a responsive web design. This means a responsive design could also have a impact on your search engine ranking. When returning search results, Google will favour websites that serve a good experience to the user.

  1. The rationale behind responsive design is to be available for all devices. This is in effect future proofing your website against the release of new devices. We are already seeing this with the release of Retina and Ultra HD screens.

There you are. You have three reasons to reflect upon. “

“OK Venky, I now understand the importance of a responsive website, but what would be the cost?”

“I would meet you in person for that sir. Now please if you’ll excuse me, I have a flat tyre to attend”, I close.

Responsive Website Designs are the need of the day. Almost all internet users now use smart phones to browse, search, compare and buy products. It pays to make your website responsive.
